ALTERNATIVE TREATMENT COVID-19

During the pandemic, ozone therapy has been tested in various countries around the world with incredible results, as it successfully helps to combat the disease caused by COVID-19. "Ozone is a very effective therapy and we must immediately incorporate it into the treatment of the coronavirus," says anesthetist Alberto Hernández, from the Policlínica del Rosario hospital in Ibiza. Ozone reduces the inflammatory response suffered by coronavirus patients and has an effect that helps eliminate the virus.

Rectal ozone could be able to improve clinical variables (oxygen saturation and oxygen demand), laboratory (decrease in inflammation markers) and radiological (according to the Taylor scale), as has been observed in this case. Rectal ozone could be an option to consider as an adjunctive or compassionate treatment in the management of patients with severe pneumonia due to COVID-19.

Published studies have shown that patients treated with this therapy improve their clinical condition (reducing temperature, decreasing oxygen demands and improving saturation). There was also improvement in analytical parameters (decrease in acute phase reactants) and radiological parameters (decrease in ground glass pattern). In some cases there was a negative RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2, which confirms the antiviral effect of ozone. Likewise, this therapy favored a decrease in hospital stay in treated patients, compared to standard therapy.

There is evidence of cases treated in China, Italy and Spain using ozone via autohemotherapy, with good results. The antiviral, antiparasitic and antibacterial power of ozone has been demonstrated. This technique is used to make water drinkable in large plants in the world and for disinfection in the surgical field.

This treatment is similar to the therapy used by Rowen, who treated patients with Ebola, who, after five therapy sessions (rectal ozone), improved the symptoms, reducing the cytokine storm (hyperinflammation) and the mortality rate was zero. Rowen argues that ozone is capable of oxidizing capsid proteins, and the S-spike protein, typical of SARS-CoV-2, in the same way as it acted on the Ebola virus. This property would explain the positive effect in patients with COVID-19 disease.
